Mas Tortó

Tasting note:

Medium satured red; dark berry fruit flavours; light roasted aromas of plums, currant; some toasty coffee flavours;  lots of red and dark berry flavours in taste; complex but fine; very sofisticated style; intense seroius fruit character; powerful but elegant; serious sweet tannins; complex and mineral; nice freshness and very good length

Food pairing: 

Roasted lamb chops, goat, beef, duck, game (partridge, quail, rabbit); stews, casseroles, grilled vegetable, cheeses, Sirloin, oxtrail

Grape varieties: 

50% Grenache
20% Syrah
20% Cabernet Sauvignon
10% Cariñena

Temperature controlled fermentation (27-29ºC; indegenous yeast).
Varieties are vinified partly separately, partly blended in stainless steel tanks and open barrels
Maceration: 18-30 days
Malolactic fermentation started in tank and finished in barrel
Not cold stabilized, light filtration
No finning

12 month aged in new and one year mainly french oak barrels (228l); Allier and Never
Light and medium toasted
After blending aged for 3 months in tank before bottling

Grenache: Over 50-70 years.
Terroir:  granit, clay

By hand, in 20kg boxes
Harvest starts on september until mid october
Manual selection on table
Yield:
20-30hl/ha (Garnacha); 25-40 hl/ha (the others )

14.5% Vol.
ATT: 4,9 g/l
Residual sugar: 0,8 g/l
